• “Building a community of disciples of Jesus,
with a passion to worship God,
    who care for one another
and bring God’s love into a broken world”

Our vision

The vision Vineyard Groningen is: ‘building an international community of disciples of Jesus, with a passion to worship God, who care for one another and bring God’s love into a broken world.’

4 key areas: discipleship, worship, community and mission

  • Discipleship [UP-IN-OUT]:
    1. Our mission is ‘to multiply disciples of Jesus’ [Math. 28:16-20].
    2. Discipleship is about living a three-dimensional lifestyle: UP with the triune God, IN with the community of other disciples [the local church] and OUT with the hurting world around us.
    3. We illustrate this three-dimensional lifestyle with a Triangle:
      up - in -out
    4. A culture of discipleship: we long to hear from God, together follow Jesus in our everyday life and disciple others.

  • Worship [UP]:
    1. Worship is:
      1. Our highest priority
      2. A response to God’s unconditional love for us [1 John 4:19]
      3. A response to who God is
    2. We want to be a church where people encounter God.
    3. We want to be a community where everyone is drawn into a lifestyle of worship and intimacy:
      1. Worship involves our entire, everyday lives [Rom. 12:1-2]
      2. Passionate corporate worship
      3. Sharing life together [John 15:5-8, Rom. 12:1-2]
      4. Expressed through many creative ways [John 4:23-24]

  • Community [IN]
    1. Vineyard Groningen is a multi-ethnic community.
    2. We celebrate diversity [Col. 1:15-20].
    3. We want to be a community that cares for one another – ‘koinoinia’ [sharing life together, e.g. Rom. 12:9-21].
    4. This love and compassion is not limited to our own community; but we want to extend this love and compassion to the world [around us].
    5. We build community in our gatherings as community as a whole, but also in smaller groups that meet up to share lives and challenge one another.

  • Mission [OUT]:
    1. ‘For God so loved the world…’ [John 3:16].
    2. We seek to be a community that fearlessly advances the Kingdom of God, from person to person.
    3. We aim to do this through:
      1. Living missional lifestyles [e.g. Luke 10:1-12]
      2. Share the gospel in word and power – ‘power evangelism’
      3. Church planting
      4. Global missions – we send people out into the world
