with a passion to worship God,
who care for one another
and bring God’s love into a broken world”
Today I pick up my series on ‘Going Deeper’. It’s a series about the practice of the Spiritual Disciplines, like solitude, silence, fasting, Scripture, giving, fellowship and so on. They are practices that helps you to pursue the presence of God and enjoy more full the spiritual life in God’s kingdom. The spiritual disciplines all involve bodily action and today I am going to look at a couple of passages from the Bible that describes how your body can be used in order to ‘go deeper’ with God.
We continue our series Going Deeper on the practice of Spiritual Disciplines. We look at it from the perspective of two different types of persons - the first is ‘the religious and manipulative person’ and the other is ‘the spiritual and worshipping person’. How do you experience the presence of God in your everyday life? What challenges do you face? How can you encourage a fellow follower of Jesus in this? How can the Spiritual Disciplines help you in your everyday life with God?
Today Maurits kicked off a new series called Going Deeper about the practice of spiritual disciplines. As a Christian you are 'married' even when you are single? How do you keep that relationship with God aliving and thriving? How do you survive a season of spiritual dryness? Today we lay a foundation on how you can develop activities that will help you to enjoy more fully the act of love of God & to remain in that constant fellowship and relationship with God.
We've had the privilege of having Jan Bernard Struik in our midst. Jan Bernard used to be the National Leader of the Vineyard Benelux. He shared with us on the topic of "Come Holy Spirit" and how important it is that we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives.
Our world is broken and torn apart. Or as someone else said to me this week: ‘The world is sick and it only gets worse’. We know that. We see it and feel it, everyday. The sister in the family who is fighting a severe disease. The couple in the street that is going through a divorce and leaves a huge crack in their young family. The son who walked away from home. Or at a larger scale, the politician that shout’s ‘Brexit’, the other ‘Bremain’. Again others who set up people groups against people groups; the white against the black, the rich against the poor, the Americans against the Mexicans, the fundamentalists against the rest of the world.
