All disciples of Jesus are professing Christians,
but not all professing Christians are disciples of Jesus.
In the teaching of Jesus, especially in the Sermon on the Mount, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as half-hearted discipleship or a part-time follower.
It’s either all-in or nothing.
Discipleship means that we commit to the wonderful journey of being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus and doing as He did. It is a journey, it is a path, there is a lot of space to grow and restore and to fall and get back up again. But the direction is very clear.
In our final passage in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus uses several metaphoric illustrations, to drive home this simple point: just do it.
Matthew 7:13-27
