- God reveals himself and calls his people to worship
- God’s people recognize and confess their need for forgiveness
- God provides reconciliation
- God speaks his word
- God’s people enjoy God’s presence and respond with devotion
- God is organizing a feast
The presence of God in the OT
- Bound to a specific place
- For a limited group of people
- According to strict rules
- But with consent of the people
- With sacrifices (blood)
- Yet it’s all about the heart
The presence of God in this time
- through Jesus instead of through rules
- for everyone instead of for the high priest
- Everywhere instead of in the sanctuary alone
- Still with blood, but it has already flowed.
- It’s still about our hearts
