We’re Moving!

As of April 13th, we will be gathering every week on Sundays at the Jeruzalemkerk (W.A. Scholtenstraat 27, Groningen) for afternoon services starting at 14:00.
The journey
For about a year we have been searching for a new location for our gatherings, first because we felt it was time for us to move, and then also because of an upcoming renovation at the Gomarus College. A Building Committee has been working hard to find an appropriate space, connecting with over 60 locations. In the last couple of weeks, just when our time at Gomarus was seriously running out, the Lord provided us with this great opportunity which came out as the best option of three church buildings where we could do afternoon services.
It ticks the boxes
Why are we excited about the Jeruzalemkerk?
- It is a large enough space for our gatherings
- It has good and appropriate spaces for kids ministry
- It is in the city center, which means we will be moving closer to our main mission field
- We are establishing a very positive relationship with the Christian Reformed Church who own the building – they are very happy we will be renting their building
- The renting price is within our budget
- There will be sufficient storage space there for our things
- We have renting opportunities throughout the week for VSM, worship rehearsal and other meetings
Contract signed
We are so thankful for God’s provision, the efforts of the Building Committee and the increased generosity in our church community which made this relocation possible. On the first Sunday of the year, Koen shared that he felt the relocation was like repotting a plant so it can continue to flourish. We believe that this is indeed where the Lord is guiding us and we are filled with anticipation for this new season in the life of our church.
On Sunday, at the end of the Family Meeting, the full Board signed a one-year rental contract and we were able to drench this moment in prayer and thankfulness for God’s provision.
In the coming weeks, we will be working on updating all of our communication. This Sunday, we will also have flyers available to help you invite people to the Easter service (April 20th.)
First Sunday
Our first service will be on April 13th. We invite you to come a bit earlier that day to get acquainted with the building before we start the service.
12:00 prayer meeting
13:00 coffee & snacks

How to get there
The Jeruzalemkerk is right in the center of the city. This means that for many, it is easier to get there by foot, bike and public transport, but for those coming by car there are a few adjustments.
Bike
For those of us who have fully adjusted to the way the Dutch move around most of the time, there is more than enough space to park your bike at the new location. With bike parking lots through the gates on both sides of the building.
Public transport
Around the corner from the church is the UMCG Noord bus station. Many bus-lines that go through the city stop there. It is also just a few stops away from the Groningen Central Station.
Car
There is a parking garage at UMCG Noord and at Boterdiep. The church we are renting from has a deal with the UMCG Noord garage for discount cards to park there for 3hrs for only €3,50. We will make these cards available for our gatherings.
If you are traveling from out of town by car, another option may be to park (for free) at the Kardinge P+R and take bus 3 or 4 into the city. In just a few stops, you will be right at UMCG Noord, at the doorstep of the Jeruzalemkerk.
