Artificial Inheritance | Part 1 | Bad Prompts
Scripture
Genesis 11:1-9
Summary
In this sermon series we are going to talk about how technology, especially Artificial Intelligence, is changing our world.
AI is already impacting the way that we live, and is changing the way people see the world, ourselves, others and the future. AI will impact every area of society, and holds a clear potential for both good, evil and a mixed-bag of the two.
This is why we need to talk about it.
AI is something created in our image; the image of man, which means that it can be used for good and evil, have good and evil effects and is in itself also damaged by sin. You could say that AI enhances the human capacity for both good and evil.
The story of the Tower of Babel is an early example of a bad prompt. Humans set out to build a tower reaching to the heavens and ‘making a name for themselves’, but it ends in chaos and confusion. The bad motivation behind the endeavor results in a confusing outcome. Trash in, trash out.
AI-technology holds a mind-boggling potential, and we know that humanity is going to give it some very bad prompts leading to seriously worrying results too.
At the Tower of Babel, God wasn’t threatened by human actions; He saw the potential for self-destruction and decided to intervene. He knew that they were giving a bad prompt and the outcome would be disastrous.
