Scripture
John 4
Summary
- We were created to worship God; when we seek fulfillment elsewhere, we experience the restlessness that only Christ can satisfy.
- There is a constant battle for our worship. Every person worships something, and Jesus calls us to worship God alone rather than giving our hearts to lesser things that ultimately leave us empty.
- Jesus came to restore true worship. From cleansing the temple to His conversation with the Samaritan woman, Jesus reveals that worship is no longer centered on a location but on a restored relationship with God.
- The Father is seeking true worshippers. God actively seeks people who worship Him genuinely—not merely through outward actions
- God must be approached by that part of us that is spirit. Worship in spirit is relational, experiential, and inspired by fresh revelation of who Jesus is.
- Who God is shapes how we worship. Worship in spirit and truth combines heartfelt devotion with strong theology, allowing God’s worth—not our feelings—to fuel our praise and worship.
